The stock market saw another gainful day despite a reading that consumer sentiment hit a year low. Portugal default fears grew and Japan saw what made for two years of price drops for its consumers. It was pretty impressive to see that most global markets rose on the day. Bond yields were higher and gold failed to reach yesterday's highs.
Here were today's unofficial closing bell levels:

Closing Bell: Bulls Take a Breather (DG, EE, EWJ, NFLX, PRAN, S, T)
A great three day rally went from news and excitement to what was really just a dull quiet day for the market as a whole. Earnings and analysts drove some shares but the news of a downed airplane in Libya and more unrest growing in the Middle East region just failed to make markets move so much.
Here were the unofficial closing bell levels:
Dow Jones 12,018.63 -17.90 (-0.15%)
S&P 500 1,293.77 -4.61 (-0.36%)
Nasdaq 2,683.87 -8.22 (-0.31%)

Turnaround Expert: A Six-Pack of Rebound Buys
"Even when the market is up a lot, you can always find some good stocks that have been left behind but could be on the verge of a rebound," says George Putnam.
The editor of The Turnaround Letter explains, "That's where we suggest you focus your efforts right now. These eight stocks all have strong business franchises and have all significantly lagged the market over the last two years.
"In fact, several of them are still trading near or even below where they were in early 2009. Here, we look at Bank of America (BAC), Best Buy (BBY), Campbell Soup (CPB), Cisco Systems (CSCO), Microsoft (MSFT) and Sprint Nextel (S).

Sprint Considering a Megadeal for T-Mobile USA?
Yet again, there is some buzz that a deal is in the works between Sprint Nextel (S) and Deutsche Telekom's T-Mobile USA. In fact, it may be more than just a rumor. In early trading Tuesday, the shares of Sprint were up nearly 6%.
In light of the need for spectrum investments, Deutsche Telekom has already said it's looking at strategic partnerships. So could this really be code-speak for a merger deal? Perhaps so.

Outlook for Verizon's Mobile Plan Pricing
Verizon (VZ) primarily competes with Sprint Nextel (S) and AT&T (T) in the mobile subscription plan business. The average monthly fee that Verizon's postpaid wireless subscribers pay for wireless service, excluding data service, has been consistently declining over the past few years. The decline in pricing is mainly attributable to nearing saturation of the U.S. cellular market, creating fierce competition among telecom players to maintain and increase their market share.
A successful Verizon-iPhone (AAPL) deal and rising data revenues from smart phone penetration could, however, offset declines in average mobile plan prices.
Sprint Nextel: Incremental Progress
I first discussed Sprint Nextel (S) here on December 6, 2010, at a price of $4.17, and shares did push above $4.70 this winter before retreating on the market's recent pullback. I still like the shares at this stage, though.
However, keep in mind that Sprint is a high-risk stock, not suitable for low-risk or moderate-risk investors. Don't consider Sprint if you can't tolerate a more than 50% to 70% loss or seeing your entire investment wiped out -- it could happen.

Verizon Finally Gets the iPhone
The battle among iPhone carriers is fierce. Apple's (AAPL) iPhone is the prized device. AT&T (T), Verizon's (VZ) rival, has had the an exclusive hold on the iPhone. Verizon has been trying to play catch up. Now that Verizon will have the iPhone, the playing field will change dramatically. Verizon, with about 93 million subscribers, could grab an estimated 10 million new subscribers with the iPhone, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.
The move is also a big boost for Apple. Apple has been feeling the pressure from Google (GOOG), with its Android system. Android phones passed the iPhone in sales in the second quarter. This move to Verizon will open up a new expanded base for Apple.
Closing Bell: Mixed Gains into Tax Vote (ATVI, AAPL, FONR, FCEL, S, TMO, DNEX)
There was more focus this Monday, it seemed, on China's growth and attention on the tax vote than other issues. Ahead of tomorrow's FOMC meeting, we briefly had 10-year Treasury Notes at the highest yields since June. The FOMC was reportedly looking for $110 billion in Treasury purchases over the next month. Here were today's unofficial closing bell levels:

Closing Bell: Merger-Monday's Market Mix (AAPL, BUCY, CAT, CSUN, GTSI, ISLN, EMC, S)
Monday was in part a merger Monday, and it was also a break-up of the correlation among markets, at least in some aspects, as the US Dollar rose. A weaker than expected Philly Fed forecast in Q4 failed to exact much pain. Still, bonds continued the sell-off as 30-Year Treasury rates hit 4.36%, the highest yields since the summer. Here were today's unofficial closing bell levels:
Dow Jones 11,201.97 +9.39 (0.08%)
S&P 500 1,197.75 -1.46 (-0.12%)
