Apple after the bell 9/26/06: momentum strong as iPhone rumors continue

Apple Computer, Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) ended the day at $77.61, up $1.86 and 2.46%, another strong day for the stock. Will Apple be breaking the $80 soon? It's always hard to tell with the computer company that people seem to either love or loathe, often in intense cycles.

But the momentum still seems to be in Apple's favor. Fortune recently wrote that the pre-announcement of the iTV may be Apple's attempt to force movie studios to play ball with online video downloads, and if it is succeeding, we can expect to see Apple capture a large part of the legal movie download arena.

That by itself is a powerful positive, if Apple can pull off getting more studios on board. But add to that the firming expectations of an Apple phone, which has more details and rumors trickling out to the point that many see it coming soon, and you have strong conditions for Apple to continue moving upwards.
