Apple after the bell 8/31/06: iTunes movie rollout soon


Apple Computer (AAPL) ended the day at $67.85, up 89 cents and 1.33%. The stock is showing a strong day as news comes in that some are unimpressed with the former 'iPod Killer' by Microsoft, the Zune. The buzz seems to have died for the Zune.

The Apple battery recalls have gone smoothly, which is no doubt helping people calm down about the stock. Further help to the stock comes from the muttering that that by mid-September iTunes will be rolling out a movie service. This puts Apple in competition with Wal-Mart, and Amazon, and Guba, but if Apple wants to compete and have a media-centric business, it's the obvious next step.
